What we cover

Payables Guide is an editorial resource for business owners, operators, and bookkeepers who need to understand vendor payments. We explain payment methods, software choices, fees, accounting handoffs, and the controls around releasing money.

Our starting audience is US-focused small businesses. International topics identify where recipient countries, currencies, entity eligibility, or local requirements need additional review. A general article cannot establish eligibility for a particular business or transaction.

How to read our work

Our reviews are based on publicly available provider documentation and editorial analysis. They are not hands-on product benchmarks, private security audits, or customer testimonials. We label hypothetical examples and show assumptions for calculations so the reader can adapt them.

Each substantive article includes source links, a review date, and related reading. A review date records the editorial pass; it is not a promise that a provider's terms will remain unchanged. The transaction quote and provider agreement govern a purchase or payment.

Commercial relationships

Some outbound links, including designated Melio links, are affiliate links. We may receive a commission when a reader signs up through them. That relationship is disclosed before readers reach our recommendations and is explained in the affiliate disclosure.

Our comparisons include circumstances in which another tool or an existing workflow may be more appropriate. A referral relationship does not establish that a product is the right fit for a reader's business.

Help keep the record useful

For corrections, send the page address, the specific statement, and a current public source through the editorial contact form. Please do not include credentials, bank details, tax identifiers, or private transaction documents. We are an editorial publication, not a payment provider or a provider's support team.

See our editorial policy for how we distinguish facts, analysis, and examples.
